The Overton Window: acceptable or unacceptable ?

Glenn Beck’s new novel “The Overton Window” will rank at the top of the New York Times Bestsellers List for adult fiction on July 4th.There are many  articles likes The Overton Window review has been wrriten by many people who interested in it.Glenn Beck has delivered a novel which is ripped from today’s headlines and destined to be as controversial as it is eye-opening and mixs American history, frightening facts about our present condition, and a heart-stopping plot together. The Overton Window will enlighten, educate, and entertain with twists and revelations.

This will be Beck’s sixth consecutive first bestseller. Publisher Simon & Schuster says  that Beck is the only author having had books debuts at the top of NYT’s lists for hardcover fiction, nonfiction paperback, children’s picture book and hardcover nonfiction.

The title, “The Overton Window” refers to a trick of altering expectations until the unthinkable becomes reasonable. The Overton Window is a way of visualizing ideas that define range of acceptance by where they fall in. Proponents outside the window want to persuade and educate the public so that the window either “moves” or expands to encompass them. Opponents within the window seek to convince people that these should be considered unacceptable. That makes those old fringe ideas look less extreme, and thereby acceptable. The idea that the public with fringe ideas intended to be and remain unacceptable will make the real target ideas seem more acceptable by comparison.

The Overton Window is full of irony, albeit of the unintentional variety. The novel reveals Glenn’s views of the world as it would be and he lays out the scenario by which he believes the progressive movement can undermine the country. You can also look some  The Overton Window reviews to share ideas with other people.

A plan to destroy America, a hundred years in the making, is about to be unleashed . . . can it be stopped? The book’s plot circles around the conspiracy of a slick Manhattan PR type named Arthur Gardner to put an end to the American experiment in self-government. Gardner believes that through proper manipulation he can make Americans accept even the most radical ideas, and he has cooked up a plot to take over the nation. Battling against him are a brave and beautiful patriot named Molly, and Gardner’s own son, Noah, who has fallen in love with Molly and come to see the world through her eyes.

“The Overton Window” is judged not by its literary value, or its contribution to the thriller genre, or the money it earns, but rather by the rebelliousness it incites among anti-government extremists. If the book is found tucked into the ammo boxes of self-proclaimed patriots and recited at “tea party” assemblies, then Beck will have achieved his goal. Glenn knows that the very best way to scare us is to show us what can really happen. Get ready to sleep with the lights on. This is the one you shouldn’t miss.(Read More…)
